Girls have as much love in them as they have viciousness because they’re human beings. Violence and horror films are not gender specific
— Jennifer Lynch

Welcome to Bloody Women, a new film journal committed to platforming viewpoints on horror cinema, TV and culture by women and non-binary writers. Commissioned and published by The Final Girls.

Bloody Women aims to be offer a fresh, dynamic and thoughtful take on genre cinema (horror, fantasy, sci-fi), TV and culture. Expanding on the curatorial work that we have done over the past four years, this is a way of expanding the range of voices talking about genre films.

We're excited to use Bloody Women to platform thoughtful, nuanced and creative criticism. We will publish essays, features and opinion pieces that explore contemporary film and television releases, as well as reappraise older work. Every week, we’ll be sending out a newsletter with a newly commissioned piece of writing.

We love the horror community and are working to make it more inclusive and welcoming for everyone who enjoys horror in all its weird, wonderful, occasionally tentacled shapes.

We welcome pitches from female and non-binary writers. All commissions are paid. The Commissioning Editor is Leila Latif.

Interested in writing for Bloody Women? Check our submissions guidelines here.

We've been going independently for years now, and so far have self-financed every single project. In order to do more work, and continue supporting amazing filmmakers in the genre space, we've launched a Patreon.

If you are able to support us and the work we do on Patreon, we'd truly and deeply appreciate it.
